

I then got the following in the log from UPHCLEAN after a reboot:


It cut the "Closing Windows" prompt time from 4 minutes to 90 seconds, which is still not what it was, but *much* better than before installing it. So per your suggestion, I downloaded UPHCLEAN, which I've installed on one of the machines. On reflection I began to think perhaps it's the result of converting to NTFS and not the fault of the program itself. #65, #62 here - I blamed the software because the problem appeared immediately on both machines on which it was used.
